Unruly

Recognized as the number one sire in America in 1987, Unruly also achieved acclaim for his racing career.

Born on Dec. 22, 1978 out of Kelly Jones and Skillful, and owned by Mrs. R.H. Waiters, Unruly began his career in a big way in 1980 by becoming the youngest Greyhound ever to run in the Timberline Stake in Denver. He went on to win the $120,000 Hollywoodian in 1981.

In his bid for New England's Triple Crown, he finished second in the Rhode Island Derby, fourth in the Wonderland Derby, and placed as a finalist in the American Derby. He reached the finals of the Biscayne Irish-American Classic, ran second in the Biscayne Derby, and finished 1981 by running second in the Flagler International. Starting 1982 by qualifying for the Floridian in Hollywood, he captured his second major stake race by repeating his victory as champion of the Hollywoodian.

In recognition of his achievements, he was named 1981 Captain of the All-American Team and was the 1981 Flashy Sir Award winner. His all-time record purse earnings of $190,000 earned Unruly a place in Greyhound history.
