DAVE GREIG

PROFILE: Dave Greig was born in Scotland in 1907. He came to America with his family in 1922. The family first settled in Wyoming. Greig moved to Chicago where he was a soccer player. Greig has been active in greyhounds since the late 20’s. In 1982 when he was added to the PIONEER section both Greig and his wife Marg are still active at the race track and raising pups in Tampa, Florida.

HISTORY: Dave Greig first became active in the greyhound industry at the Thornton, IL, track in 1927. Greig was also involved in racing at such early tracks as Mineola and Syracuse in New York, Dayton and Toledo in Ohio, Lake Milton, Lake Fowler, Steubenville and Jeffersonville. Greig was also at Rocky Mountain Kennel Club its first year and Mile High for the opening year where Greig remained for 18 years. Dave Greig raced Palm Beach in the early 1930’s and was first booked at Tampa in 1933.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Dave Greig’s kennel ran 1, 2, and 3 in the 1955 Puppy Stake at Mile High with FRANK’S BEST, LINE O’FIRE, and SURPRISED, all three from different litters.
