ROBERT M. HERRICK

PROFILE: Retired lure operator now living with his family in Tampa Florida.

HISTORY: Mr. Herrick started work at the Tampa Track as the track’s lure operator from November 15, 1932 and was employed continuously until his retirement on January 16, 1976. He never missed a performance from opening day until January 5, 1976. Other tracks where Mr. Herrick operated the lure were Canfield, Ohio (1934), New Kensington, PA (1934-1936) West Memphis, AR (1936) and Jeffersonville, IN (1936). In the summer of 1937 through 1940 he worked at the Steubenville, OH track and in the late summer of 1940 at Butte, MT. He was also the lure operator at Mile High from 1954 through 1959 and 1963 and 1964.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Mr. Herrick has operated the lure during official races as well as schooling races more than any other person in the history of the sport.
