Maxine Willis

PROFILE:Maxine Willis was born in Bixby, OK and was in the greyhound business for more than five decades. She was a member of the National Greyhound Association for over 25 years. She passed away on July 7, 2019.

HISTORY:Willis began raising greyhounds in 1955 in Arizona and began operating her own kennel by the mid-60's. She raced greyhounds on the Arizona circuit up until the time of her retirement in 2005.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:Willis helped "break the glass ceiling" for women in greyhound racing by becoming one of the first licensed female trainers in the sport. She also raised and raced some outstanding greyhounds such as TV Darrell, TV Brenda, TV Szpyrka, and TV Award. She was a trailblazer in the greyhound industry.
