JAMES ROBINSON

PROFILE: A Texas native, James Robinson has been around greyhounds most of his life. Robinson has lived near Muleshoe, Texas for over 40 years and has raised greyhounds professionally more than 35 years. James Robinson was added to the PIONEER section in 1985.

HISTORY: For over three decades James Robinson has operated a 25 acre greyhound farm. A large operation, (in 1974 he had about 275 greyhounds on his farm) most of his dogs have raced on Florida track circuits through lease arrangements with Cecil Austin. It was, in fact, Cecil Austin who helped Robinson obtain one of two canine “families” that have made the Robinson operation such a successful one. In the late 1950’s Robinson acquired through Austin, a crippled female named TANSORA (SUNCHECK-SUPERSET) Tansora’s greatest accomplishment as a dam was her litter by GREAT VALOR which included SHAMA RIMPLY, GOLDENEDGE and GENOBAR. “There were nine in the litter,” Robinson remembers, “and several were Grade A”.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS: A proponent of line breeding, James Robinson twice crossed POWDER CAP to NOSEY CRES (ROCKER MAC-FINOLA) and came up with such producers as JOY FLAME, DELTA ROSE, SHARP CHICK, and SHINING PAT. These females have set numerous precedents on the national Brood Matron Standings. In 1971 and 1972 three of the four females made final Brood Matron Standing.
