RAYMOND ROBINSON

PROFILE: Raymond Robinson was born on September 7, 1899 in Iola, Kansas and died in October of 1963 in North Bend, Oregon. He raised and raced greyhounds for more than three decades.

PROFILE: Robinson began raising greyhounds in Iola in 1923 and among his greyhounds during those early years were GALLANT CANNON and SILVER IRISHMAN. He moved to Enterprise, Kansas in 1928 where he expanded his kennels. From Ireland, he imported MORDAUNT, whelped in 1932. Among Robinson’s greyhounds were DOCTOR MONTE and DUSKY MONTE. Robinson built all his pens and crates, including those he used to ship greyhounds by rail to Cuba in the 1930’s. By the 1940’s Robinson was transporting trailers of greyhounds to racetracks in such places as Phoenix, Arizona and West Palm Beach, Florida. In 1960, just three years before his death, Robinson purchased his last two greyhounds, VERGE HARMONY and SHERRY HARMONY, which he later sold.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS: On August 31, 1934, his greyhound TRAFFIC LIGHTS, won the San Francisco Aerie No. 5 FOE Cup Race. TRAFFIC LIGHTS was a red female born in the 1930’s out of BRYN JOKER and LADY CLARK, whose father was the Hall of Fame honoree, TRAFFIC OFFICER. Robinson’s import MORDAUNT, sired MEDORA who was the dam of REAL HUNTSMAN, one of the first three greyhounds inducted into the Greyhound Hall of Fame.
