DOCK SHOCKLEY

PROFILE: Dock Shockley was born August 18, 1911 in Graham, Texas. He was a member of the NGA from 1947 to October 17, 1980 when he passed away in West Memphis, Arkansas.

HISTORY: Dock’s greyhound career began in 1937 when he took a kennel to West Palm Beach for Ben Neal. World War II interrupted his career from December 12, 1942 through January 21, 1946 when he served in the U.S Army’s Battery B 778th Field Artillery Battalion, and received numerous awards and commendations. Dock began racing his own kennels in 1947. He raced on almost every circuit in the country and was consistently among the leaders everywhere he raced. Dock had the first kennel to win 100 races in a season at Southland during 1968.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Dock had a number of top greyhounds in the country during his career, with many derby and juvenile stake winners.
