ROBERT STOKES

PROFILE: Robert Stokes operated a 1,200-acre cattle and greyhound farm in Lone Oak, Texas, where he also was a greyhound breeder and kennel owner who was a master at raising champion greyhounds.

HISTORY:Stokes spent more than 50 years in the greyhound industry developing superior bloodlines. He used the prefix “Bob’s” when naming many of his greyhounds.

ACOMPLISHMENTS: The list of outstanding greyhounds raised by Stokes is long. Among the most notable are Bob’s Skeet, named the Captain of the 2006 All-America Team and the Rural Rube winner as the nation’s best sprinter, and Bob’s Tray, named to the 1991 All America Team. Bob’s Dash was listed in 1982 as a 2 nd Team All-America, Bob’s Nebraska was named the Wonderland Greyhound Track Greyhound of the Year, and Bob’s Sprad earned a place on the Gulf Greyhound Park’s Wall of Fame in 1995. Carry On was the Top Sire in the country in 1977 and 1978, and Target also had an illustrious stud career.
