A.D. WEAVER

PROFILE: A.D. Weaver was born in 1912 at Natchitoches, LA. Weaver is a member of the famous Weaver family, who built Derby Lane Kennel Club into a showplace of racetracks. A.D Weaver passed away in 1979, just shortly before being added to the PIONEER section of the Hall of Fame in 1981.

HISTORY: A.D Weaver was born into the greyhound industry. His father, “Dad” Weaver founded Derby Lane. A.D began his association with the racetrack in 1932 when he joined his brother, Otto in learning the business from the ground up. They both worked concessions and the money room and eventually in all other areas of the track’s operation to better qualify them for the management positions they held later.

ACOMPLISHMENTS: A.D Weaver served as vice president of Derby Lane from 1959-1969, as secretary-treasurer from 1969-1973, as president from 1973-1979 and as a member of the Board of Directors from 1953-1979.
