SH Avatar

Now appearing in the pedigrees of many of today’s top racers, SH Avatar becomes the one in a long line in his sire line to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Avatar is the son of Kiowa Mon Manny and Tom S Caterwaul and was whelped on May 13, 2010. He was the grandson of Flying Penske, class of 2013, great-grandson of Oshkosh Racey, who was inducted in 1987, and the great-great-grandson of Unruly, honored in 1988.

His overall pedigree is littered with additional Hall of Famers on both the sire and dam sides, including HB’s Commander (1999), Molotov (2007), Rooster Cogburn (2007), Dutch Bahama (1990), K’s Flak (1987), Gable Dodge (2010), K’s Broadway (2015) and Buzz Off (1998).

Avatar had a record setting racing career and is recognized for being the highest money-winning greyhound in the history of the sport in North America. It is very unlikely that his record of $740,328 in earnings will ever be broken. He would capture the $500,000 Iowa Breeders Classic in back-to-back years as well finishing third in the Bluffs Run Open and Secretary’s Stakes. He earned a spot on the 2012 All-America team. He was track champion at Bluffs in 2013 with a record of 33-7-9-2 in 55 starts. He became the first and only greyhound to repeat outright as Greyhound Of The Year at Bluffs in 2012 &13 and was also named to his second All-America team.

While his stellar racing career is the primary reason why Avatar has been inducted, his brief sire career makes his honor all the more impressive. Avatar has produced many outstanding offspring, including numerous stake winners and All-Americans such as; Konomi (2019 All-American, Multiple stake winner), Takin N Interest (Marathon champ), Bug Brush (Stake winner), FGF Mathias (All-American, Stake winner), Bar Gin (Stake winner), Arkans BD SH Avatar HOF Plaque.docx Doc (Stake winner) and many more. He has made his mark around the world as well producing many stakes and group winners in Australia, the UK, and Ireland.
