You were first introduced to the greyhound business when you were the owner of a Phoenix, Ariz. grocery store and received three greyhounds in payment of a debt. Although these failed to be good racing greyhounds, they sparked an interest in the sport that would last for three decades.

In 1948, you built a 10-acre greyhound farm in Arizona. You later leased a brood bitch named Butterflies and bred her to Lucky Pilot, resulting in a great cross which produced Pageant (who later sired Hall of Fame Indy Ann) and Enchanting (who won the Pueblo Inaugural as a 14-month-old maiden pup, making her the only greyhound to win her maiden and stakes race at the same time).

Your greyhounds won the American Derby four times. One of these winners, Hall of Fame inductee Feldcrest, set a world record that stood for 20 years.

In 1957 you moved to Ocala, Fla. and built one of the first greyhound farms in Marion County. You developed two of the greatest producing brood matrons in the country. Realty and Montague Memory, dam of Hall of Fame K’s Flak.

For three decades your greyhounds won numerous stake races. In the early 1970s you retired from racing greyhounds and built a successful stud farm, producing such greats as Great Valor, Clydesdale, Hammersmith, Sunbow*, Airpatrol*, Bill Moss*, Joe Moss*, Roman Earl,

A dynasty in the greyhound world, you were known as a most honest and honorable man who was never too busy to talk greyhounds or lend a helping hand.
