Because of his tremendous bloodline, Kunta Kinte brought a record price for an outstanding sire when he was sold to Carol J. Parris for $ 110,000. Out of SS Jeno and Lucky Terra, Kunta Kinte was whelped on May 16, 1976. The white red fawn male was bred by Ed Craig of Abilene, Kansas. The litter included Lucky Carmen (who produced Hall of Famer Perceive) and Kizzy.

Before Kunta Kinte’s outstanding career as a sire, he ran 80 percent in the money at the racetracks in Revere, Massachusetts; St. Petersburg, Florida; and Sarasota, Florida. IM
But he was best known for his racing offspring that included Land, Lando Lake, Pud, Oshkosh Zest, Avalon, Guy Kirby, Flashy Tom, Dan Marino, Bold Color, Bold Point, Terry Mandel, I’m Buckshot, Judge Parker, Nice Catch, Been Gonna, Magic Heart, Mentality, Magic Micole, Viv’s Jeno, Frank Shurden, Salhsaw Major and Salhsaw Jeno. 
It was his female producers that made him a legend. His offspring included Fran’s Friend, dam of Grady Spring Champion Flanagan; Meter Maid, dam of Flashy Sir Award Winner Swedish Episode and other “Episode” stake winners; Valley Princess, dam of All-American IIm Aksarben Duke and Move On Monica; Blooms, dam of Derby Lane distance classic champion Flo DeCarlo; Nice Catch, dam of Double Stake Winner Trooper Zeke; and Buzz Off, dam of All American Blendway, Wonderland Derby Winner Bartie and Bara Buzz.
